looking in the Mirror 2 Finding Your Skin Type

What Do You See, When You Look in the Mirror?

So you looked in the mirror this morning and you thought “My complexion looks pretty good, “ right? But maybe it’s a little dull or sometimes flaky. Maybe you get a pimple every now and then. Or maybe you are noticing timy red squiggles around your nose and chin. Eeek! What’s a girl to do!

You should stand in front of your mirror in natural light and take a really good look at your skin. Come on, be hones.  Chances are that you will notice either ad uneven skin tone or texture. Or you may notice unusual reddness or a sickly sallowness that hides your natural healthy glow. And to top it off, with every passing year, your skin will show signs of it’s age. Oh my! But thanks to skin care products made for every skin type, and innovative at home skin treatments like microdermabrasion, your skin can look healthy and vibrant,  well into your sixties and beyond. The trick is knowing your skin type, so that you can choose the products which are right for you.

Finding Your Skin Type

A good skin care regimen starts with knowing your skin type. Then you are sure to choose the correct cleanser, moisturizer, skin supplements and foundation.  You can identify your skin type by taking this short quiz. Choose the answers that best describe your skin. Jot down the number to the answers, and add them up at the end to determine your skin type. Let’s Begin:

A) How often do you experience blackheads or other facial blemishes?

          1 – Frequently

2 -  Occasionally in the T Zone (forhead and nose area)

         3 -  Not Too Often

         4 – Very Rarely

B)  How noticeble are your pores?

         1 -  Very Obvious

         2 -  Noticeble in the T Zone

         3 -  Not too Noticeble

4 -  Not at all Noticeble

C)  Does Your Skin Ever flake?

         1 -  Hardly Ever

2 -  Sometimes in the cheek area

         3 -  Occasionally

         4 -  Often

D)  Is there a Visible Shine on your Forehead, Nose and Chin several hours after you cleanse your face?

1 -  Most of the Time

         2 -  Often in the T Zone

         3 -  Occasionally

         4 -  Very Rarely

E)  Does Your Skin Ever Feel Tight or Dry?

         1 -  Hardly Ever

2 -  Sometimes in the Cheek Area

         3 -  Occasionally

4 -  Most of the time

Now that you have taken the quiz here are the results:

16 – 20  Your skin is Dry

10 – 15  Your skin is either Normal or It could be Combination

5 – 9       Your skin is Oily

Knowing the type of skin you have is half the battle of getting and keeping great skin. The next step is to pick the products which are right for you.
